Mission: The Victoria Ukulele Ensemble (VUE) has been established to continue the operation of the ukulele ensemble, sharing the joy of ukulele music and comradery among ukulele players, in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
Goals and Objectives:
The Victoria Ukulele Ensemble® (VUE) is a musical organization created to encourage ukulele enthusiasts to:
- Learn a diverse repertoire of ukulele music;
- Play ukulele music in a variety of styles;
- Expand our knowledge of and ability to play a broad variety of chords;
- Progress in the continuous development of Ukulele playing skills; including strumming and picking; and
- Share our enthusiasm and comradery in an ukulele orchestral setting
Membership and Structure:
The VUE combines harmonious instrumental sections and is comprised of ukulele players who:
- Share the interests of the organization;
- Have a minimum of one-year ukulele or bass guitar experience;
- know and have the comfortable ability to play standard chords (Including: C, C7, Cm, G, G7, Gm, F, F7, Fm, D, D7, Dm, A, A7, Am, E, E7, Em, B, B7 Bm).
The full ensemble will be comprised of instrumental sections considering the tuning of instruments and instrumental techniques, as follows:
Tuning:
- C-Tuned soprano, concert, and tenor ukuleles (low G-String);
- G-Tuned baritone ukuleles;
- Bass Ukuleles, upright string basses or bass guitars.
Techniques: Strumming patterns, pattern picking and melody picking.
Activities of the Victoria Ukulele Ensemble
Regular Meetings
- The Victoria Ukulele Ensemble will meet bi-monthly as a full ensemble to practice the organization’s repertoire of music.
- In addition to the regular bi-monthly sessions, individual sections may meet occasionally to practice individual parts and/or techniques.
Occasional Workshops
- From time-to-time the Victoria Ukulele Ensemble will arrange for special workshops to foster the development of additional musical techniques and skills, or to focus upon selected musical genres or topics.
Performances
- Once or twice each year, the ensemble may perform a recital for the public (friends and family).

Full ensemble meetings: Thursdays 1:00pm –to– 2:30pm
Arrangements have been made for the ensemble to meet at the Lutheran Church of the cross on Cedar Hill Road.

Registration
To become a member, please complete the registration form (Returning members: please make a note of any of your contact information that may have changed) and submit it with your membership fee (please make your cheque payable to The Victoria Ukulele Ensemble).
Fees: Membership in The VUE can be arranged seasonally or annually.
